Ahhhh, that explains it.

Funny how a Chicago area company has its cars registered in Florida, ain’t it?

The budget trucks we rent are all plated to Oklahoma.

Interesting. I had a driveway sealcoat guy show up last month in a beat up Chevy with Oklahoma plates on it.

The FL tags don’t surprise me quite as much as the car sitting outside O’Reilly’s. Picking up some junk to bling out the car maybe (not)?

The Bugatti Veyron owner in Minneapolis has it plated in Montana - great tax planning there.

Hmmm. I’m not sure if there are tax incentives for doing that, but Oklahoma no longer requires inspections.

A friend of mine here in Madison has several out-of-state people’s modified and/or exotic cars registered at his address. We have no emissions testing here. 7 counties in southeast WI (generally in/around Milwaukee) have emissions testing but not the rest of the state.

I have a major problem with this. If you have the money to have a Bugatti, you have the money to pay the fucking taxes and fees on it.

If you are driving it mainly around Minnesota, you should be giving that money to Minnesota for the roads and everything else you are taking advantage of. What you shouldn’t be doing is registering it in another state so you can save a few thousand on a 7 figure car.

That’s because MT used to be the Liberia of exotic/expensive car registration.

A lot of states are like that. Even though I currently reside in a city with them, my cars are registered at the closest thing to a permanent address I have (and it’s in a spot with no emissions/low taxes).

I’m not sure how exactly other states tax vehicles but ours might be relatively low? We have to pay 5.5% sales tax when registering a car but otherwise it’s only $75/year to renew tags. I think vanity tags are another $15/year.

Do you think they purpled it because nobody wanted to rent an Audi supercar? I mean they’re great, but who rents a supercar to blend in?

That could be. I didn’t touch it, but it wasn’t super shiny. It looked to me like it might be plasti-dipped.

Smart company would dip it I think. You want that reversibility when you need to make money off the thing

Yeah, it makes sense to me. Also it would keep the original paint from getting scratched.
